Camping at West Eagle Meadow

Jeff, Aubrey, and I took advantage of the long 4th of July weekend to go camping in the Wallowa Mountains in Oregon. West Eagle Meadow was Jeff's favorite place to camp when he lived in La Grande, and is about 3 1/2 hours from our home. The drive was worth it! The campground wasn't crowded and the scenery was beautiful. Plus, Aubrey logged quite a few hours of driving time. (She has her permit and is working toward her license.) We hiked, kayaked, relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We chose a campsite close to the meadow, but without a parking spot.
So we had to be sherpas with all of our camping gear.

Setting off on our hike to Echo Lake. Unfortunately, we never made it because I lost one of
my shoes in a river crossing attempt. Fortunately, Aubrey had a pair of shoes I could borrow.

An alternate hike, bushwhacking to find a spring.

We found the site of the spring, but unfortunately, it was dry.

But we did find a mountain creek nearby. Maybe the spring got diverted.

Jeff was very proud of the solar shower he purchased before the trip.
(You can see the bag holding the water in the upper left.) He said the
shower was wonderful. Aubrey and I waited until we got home.
